Under the Hood

How Beacon Gets Its Data

Beacon reads directly from Hyperliquid L1, the fastest on-chain orderbook processing over 200,000 orders per second. Here is exactly how each data source works, how signals are generated, and how we turn raw blockchain data into actionable trading intelligence.

Data Sources & Signal Types

Hyperliquid Exchange API

Public on-chain data

Real-time market data directly from Hyperliquid's on-chain orderbook. This includes live prices, order book depth, recent trades, funding rates, and open interest for all 200+ perpetual markets. Data refreshes every second.

Signal Generation Engine

Proprietary intelligence layer

Beacon's signal engine analyzes trading activity across all Hyperliquid markets in real-time. It generates three types of signals: All-Stars (coordinated flow from multiple traders), Volume Surge (abnormal volume spikes vs. 2-hour rolling average), and Large Position (massive individual position openings). Each signal is classified as Bronze, Silver, or Gold based on magnitude.

Leaderboard Sentiment Aggregation

Top trader positioning data

Beacon aggregates position data from Hyperliquid's all-time performance leaderboard. For each market, we calculate the long/short ratio by wallet count, average entry and liquidation prices, total positioned value by direction, and aggregated PnL. This reveals how the most successful traders are positioned. This is institutional-grade data previously only available to trading desks.

Liquidation Tracking

Real-time position closures

Every liquidation event on Hyperliquid is tracked and displayed in real-time. Beacon shows the trader's address, position direction (long/short), liquidation value, and the price at which the position was closed. Historical liquidation data is aggregated to show total long vs. short liquidations over 24 hours.

Funding Flow Detection

Smart money tracking

Beacon monitors wallet deposits on Hyperliquid and correlates them with immediate trading activity. When a wallet deposits $2M+ and opens a position, it triggers a funding flow alert. Three tiers track $2M, $3.5M, and $5M+ funding events. This detects institutional-scale capital entering the market in real-time.

Cohort Analysis & Bubble Maps

Visual position mapping

For each market, Beacon maps all tracked trader positions into an interactive bubble chart. The X-axis shows PnL, Y-axis shows ROI, and bubble size represents position value. Green bubbles are longs, red are shorts. This instantly reveals where winners and losers cluster and how the market is positioned. Click any bubble to view the trader's full profile.

News Aggregation

External market context

Beacon aggregates cryptocurrency news from CoinTelegraph and CoinDesk RSS feeds, filtered and matched to relevant markets. This provides market context alongside the quantitative data, helping traders understand the narrative behind price movements.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where does Beacon get its trading data?

Beacon sources all trading data directly from Hyperliquid L1, the on-chain orderbook exchange. This includes real-time prices, order book depth, trades, funding rates, open interest, and position data via the Hyperliquid Exchange API and Data RPC endpoints. All data is on-chain and verifiable.

How are trading signals generated?

Beacon's proprietary signal engine analyzes trading activity across all 200+ Hyperliquid markets in real-time. All-Stars signals detect when multiple top traders coordinate positions in the same direction ($50K to $1M+ flow). Volume Surge signals flag abnormal volume spikes compared to the 2-hour rolling average. Large Position signals track individual positions of $1M+ (BTC), $600K+ (ETH), or $250K+ (altcoins). Each signal is classified as Bronze, Silver, or Gold tier.

How often is the data updated?

Market prices and trades update every second via WebSocket connections. Trading signals, sentiment, liquidation data, and cohort positions refresh every 60 seconds. News feeds refresh every 15 minutes. Leaderboard rankings update every 5 minutes. All data is served with ISR (Incremental Static Regeneration) for sub-second page loads.

Is the data accurate and trustworthy?

Yes. Beacon reads data directly from Hyperliquid's on-chain orderbook, the same source of truth used by the exchange itself. Prices, positions, and liquidations are on-chain and publicly verifiable. Sentiment data is aggregated from the all-time performance leaderboard, which tracks real trading results, not self-reported data.

Does Beacon have access to private trader data?

No. Beacon only uses publicly available on-chain data and Hyperliquid's public API endpoints. Position data in the sentiment and cohort views comes from the public leaderboard. Traders opt into the leaderboard by participating in ranking. Beacon cannot see private wallets or non-leaderboard positions.

How does Beacon compare to CoinGlass data?

CoinGlass aggregates data across 10+ centralized exchanges (Binance, Bybit, OKX, etc.) and provides high-level metrics like cross-exchange open interest and liquidation data. Beacon goes deeper on Hyperliquid specifically, providing trading signals, leaderboard sentiment, individual trader positions, cohort analysis, and funding flow detection that CoinGlass does not offer for Hyperliquid.
